Guide to Preserving your Meadowland Memories


To add or edit points on the map, you must register as a member and Log In. If you would like to become a member or have forgotten your User Name/Password, please contact gis@vertices.com.

 

Searching for Memories

There are 2 ways to search for memories:

  1. Use the main search page.
    You will select from a list of search results and view the selected point in the same window. You will not see where the point is located geographically.
  2. Search on the Map.
    You will select from a list of search results, all of the results will be pinpointed and numbered on the map. You will view the detailed point information in a new window.

Using the Main Search Page

Select a category from the dropdown menu.

AND / OR

Type a location name in the Keyword box.
Click .
Scan down to see the search results. You can click any item on the list to view detailed information. The list displays 10 results per page, so there may be more than one page of results.

 

Searching on the Map

Click "Search on the Map" from the main Memories Page.

Select a category from the Point Search dropdown menu.

AND / OR

Type a location name in the Point Search box.

Click .
Scan down to see the search results. You can click any item on the list to find it on the map. The list displays 10 results per page, so there may be more than one page of results.

Address Search
  • Type an address in the Address Search box.
     
  • Click .
  • A marker will appear at your search point with a balloon above it.

OR

Use the pan and zoom functions to find a point on the map.
  • Left-click and drag the mouse on the map or use the arrows to pan around on the map. Zoom in or out using the bar in the top right corner of the map.
 

 
Log In

Click "Search on the Map," then click "Log In" in the top right corner of the page. Once you are logged in you can add and edit points on the map.

 

Adding a New Point

If you would like to add a new point to the map, find the location for your point:

  • Type an address in the Address Search box.
     
  • Click .
  • A marker will appear at your search point with a balloon above it. Click "Add New."

OR

Use the pan and zoom functions to find a point on the map.
  • Left-click and drag the mouse on the map or use the arrows to pan around on the map. Zoom in or out using the bar in the top right corner of the map.
  • Once you have found the location, left-click on the map.
  • Click the center of the balloon that appears, then click "Add New" and follow the instructions for Adding Point Information.

 

 
Adding Point Information
  • In the new window, type a name for the information you are going to enter in the "Location Name" box.
  • Select a Category. Click the arrow to open the dropdown menu, then click on the appropriate category name.
  • Use the Description box to narrate about your point.
  • If you would like to add photos, video, or audio, click on the link for the one you would like to upload. Then click "Upload" in the left column.
  • Be sure to click at the bottom of the window to save your data.
Editing Points

Once you have logged in, you can edit the content on any point that you added to the Mapped Memories site. You may:

  • Edit location name and category for points that you created
  • Add comments to any point,
  • Add new photos, audio, and video to any point,
  • Delete photos, audio, and video that you added.
Click on the marker for the point you would like to edit. The information window will open.
If you are permitted to delete an item, you will see this checkbox: .
Edit the information, and be sure to click to save the changes.
